In Greeley Colorado, October 2006, an organization known as the Knights of Columbus spearheaded a fundraiser for their 3 Churches.  They announced at the Masses, on one weekend at each Church, that they were trying to raise money - in this case for a Ten Commandments monument but any cause could have been used -  and that they were at the exits ready to take donations after Mass.  They also mentioned that for gifts or pledges of $30 or MORE, the donor would receive a Ten Commandments plaque.  They pre-ordered 200 plaques not knowing the response they would get.  Well, nearly 700 plaques later and over $30,000 raised in cash and pledges they are still trying to figure out what to do with the extra money.  You see, their goal was to rasie $15,000 and place a Ten Commandments monument at each parish..
